PenguiCon, Agents of SHIELD/Age of Ultron, and LJ's Stupid Editor
Jayzus god, I've been trying for a full minute to get a stupid cursor in this editor. What's the point of upgrading your software, guys, if one of the most popular browsers in the world (Chrome) has to dick around with it to actually, y'know, function?
Anyway. A time between posts, I know -- but this time less than a month! Go me! (Speaking of which -- this morning's blood sugar: 106.)
For those of you who've been champing at the bit for Avengers: Age of Ultron
(released this weekend in the UK and some other overseas markets, and next weekend here in the US), remember that the Agents of SHIELD
TV show ties in with it. Given all the trailer footage we've seen, it's not likely to be very spoilery as such, but it is
a part of the story, and AoS will continue with some elements of the story after.
Other stuff: This weekend I'm performing at PenguiCon
in Southfield, MI. My set's at 4:00 pm Saturday. Also appearing: Mikey Mason! In all, there are over four hundred separate programming events, ranging from sf/fantasy lit to Maker and DIY to open-source computing to costuming to anime to music creation to urban farming. It should be a blast.
And how are all of you

Except here in the UK we are a couple of weeks behind with AoS so it won't actually tie in with Age of Ultron.

Look, I don't even care

Goodness, PenguiCon is bigger than I remember it being. I've never been, but was thinking about giving the con a try before I moved too far south for it to be practical.
I'm vending at the Southern Maryland Celtic Festival this weekend, and keeping all crossables crossed for good weather. The forecast changes daily, and while people still come and spend when it's wet, it's not fun dealing with rain soaked canvas when I break down the tent.
After packing out of the show, I'll be zipping down to catch at least a bit of RavenCon. And I'm bringing my cosplay too, what the hell!

I'm working from home while recovering from the knee surgery I had on Monday. So far, so good. I'm looking forward to having a lot less pain from walking around at conventions this year. Good job on the blood sugar, Tom. (Mine was 70.)

*Sigh* Alas, I'm having a lengthy run of "bugger all this" days. You know the kind, right? Days where you couldn't find motivation if it were an elephant in a tea house?

Yay for perfect blood sugar!

Jumping back into work craziness right after a fun weekend at FKO.

We'll be at Penguicon as well! We'll have to come see you!
Funny enough, Midnight Monster Movies is showing a movie at noon Saturday with a lead actor named Mike Mason! Weird.

Don't you know that software upgrades (particularly to "free" software from for-profit companies) are meant to serve their interests, not the users'? As they say, if you can't see where you are paying for the product, it's because you ARE the product.
On the subject of blood sugar, have you looked into Soylent
. It's cheap (~$3/meal), filling, low glycemic index and entirely inoffensive as a food experience. I have been using it as a weekday breakfast and occasional lunch for several weeks now, and I actually feel better than I did when I was eating "real" food for breakfast - mostly because it's a better balanced meal than what I usually had for breakfast.
I am actually a bit of a foodie and my wife is a gourmet cook, so I'm not advocating it as a total food replacement (although that's what it is designed for). But as a replacement for rushed/unhealthy/unbalanced/fast-food meals, it's fantastic.

By coincidence, a friend of mine who goes by "Penguin" was just musing about getting out of town and taking a vacation. Alas, she's in Oregon - a bit too far away from Penguicon.

Have fun, and congrats on your sugar!
Filmwise, I'm MUCH more hyped about the Ian McKellen Mr. Holmes
than I am about AoU or JarJar Abrams' Star Wars film.
