Love You Long Time
Have I really not been on LJ for six months!?
Yowzah. Well, hi, everyone. I've been doing all my social media-izing on Facebook, which is great except for the shitty stuff, and I realized I wanted to not only check in, but get you up to date.
I missed a few cons -- InCon, LibertyCon, GenCon -- because of money or lack thereof, but it's mostly been an excellent con summer. Highlight was DragonCon, which was pretty awesome, except for the attempts to negotiate the dealers' area. Yeesh.
A little bit of physical distress here and there, most recently a tooth pulled this past Tuesday. Otherwise, health mostly good.
The new-to-me van is still giving me trouble, but we've narrowed it down, and hope to have it all taken care of this coming week.
Upcoming conventions are all go: FenCon
in TX, ConTraFlow
in New Orleans, OVFF
in Columbus (I'm up for two Pegasus Awards
in Chicago/Lombard, ChessieCon
And, tomorrow night, Sept. 14, I'm doing a live streaming concert
. Should be fun. (I believe you have to have a free account at Concert Window to see it, but the concert itself is pay-what-you-want, minimum $1, I get 70%.)
I hope you're all doing okay...?

Your presence on LJ is missed. Just have too many issues with Facebook to be using it.
Hoping to see you at ChessieCon or OVFF. Both are iffy at the moment, but one of the two seems likelier.

What he said! Except I am likelier to be at OVFF even if Alex can't make it. Hope to see you there.
Sun, Sep. 14th, 2014 06:48 am (UTC)
See you at FenCon!
Mon, Sep. 15th, 2014 05:39 pm (UTC)
Looking forward to it!

Good to see your phosphors here. :)

Feels good. Really, it actually does. FB is so easy and useful, except for all the stupid bullshit
it keeps ramming down its users' throats. Only the most recent example is removing the Messenger function from the iOS app and making a separate app... for no reason that anyone can discern. Here, have TWO memory sinks on your iThingie!

I do not want to feed the cancer of facebook with my own social life. This means that I've lost touch with many of my friends including you. I hope you'll come back.
My summer has been dominated by health problems. I had major surgery in July, from which I'm mostly recovered.
Mon, Sep. 15th, 2014 05:41 pm (UTC)
Gentle man-hugs, ace. Glad you're recovering. I hope I'll see you at OVFF and Windy...?
Sun, Sep. 14th, 2014 02:48 pm (UTC)
Howdy! We had a fine summer here, including a certain con in Pittsburgh (*grin*). We'll be at both OVFF and Chessie.
Mon, Sep. 15th, 2014 05:42 pm (UTC)
Yeah, that li'l side trip to ConFluence was a blast. Hugs to you and Sheryl.
Sun, Sep. 14th, 2014 11:18 pm (UTC)
*waves* I try to keep up with ya on FB, but now that my work's blocked it, it's pretty impossible to keep up with everything over there...brain overload! But all's well with me. Here's to continued good health and luck to all of us!
Mon, Sep. 15th, 2014 05:43 pm (UTC)
Here, here, indeed. [hugs] Did I catch that you're gonna be at OVFF this year?
Mon, Sep. 15th, 2014 05:11 am (UTC)
So nice to see you back on LJ! I was just thinking about you a couple of days ago and wondering if (like so many folks), you'd abandoned LJ for good. (It's a bit like a ghost town here. And I can't claim to be any better--I wander between Tumblr, Twitter and FB, satisfied with none of them, and mourn the thriving community LJ used to be.
I used to attend WindyCon frequently, but lately (money and health difficulties, and no car), I haven't been able to go, and I miss it.
Mon, Sep. 15th, 2014 05:45 pm (UTC)
Whoof. Sorry for difficulties -- been there, done that, kinda doin' it now. No possibilities for a ride or anything?
I should see if there's a LJ app, as I use my iPad a lot, and sometimes don't even bother taking my laptop on the road. (Well, the fact that it's six years old and running Vista has something to do with that as well.) I hardly ever use Twitter, and I haven't done much with Pinterest this year either. Too Damn Many Social Media Options.

Glad to have confirmation you will be at FenCon! I hope to be there for one of your concerts. Can't spend the whole weekend at the con, but $20 for a concert ticket is better than I get a lot of other places, so hey.
Tue, Sep. 16th, 2014 02:33 am (UTC)
Understood. Let me check my schedule from them... I have concerts Friday night at 9:00 and Sunday at 1:00. If you show up for that one, I'll do my best to just let you slide in without getting a badge, if you weren't going to anything else.
Mon, Sep. 15th, 2014 05:24 pm (UTC)
Glad all is well!
Tue, Sep. 16th, 2014 02:35 am (UTC)
Yep. *hugs* I still see you on FB occasionally -- all good with you and sdavido
Tue, Sep. 16th, 2014 02:22 pm (UTC)
Tom, some of us have been far longer than that between posts. (ahem) But welcome back! :-)
Tue, Sep. 16th, 2014 04:23 pm (UTC)
Much obliged, m'friend!
Fri, Sep. 19th, 2014 01:40 am (UTC)
You've been very missed hereabouts, but I'm fervently looking forward to Fencon.

I joined FB a few months ago because my boss got me involved in the tablet game Hay Day and I needed an FB account to link up with my coworkers who were also playing.
I tried to friend you on FB, but knowing FB the requests got lost in the junk file or whatever they have. I'm still trying to figure out how it works. I can friend some people but not others. I was surprised at the number of relatives were on there. Your stuff still appears when I go there and it's a breath of fresh air considering some of the *headdesk* posts from relatives and other people I know.
I submitted an entry in the ISFiC writing contest and waiting to hear back now that it's about time they said they'd announce the winners. I'd love to win, but I want to not be in last place more.
