Home Again, Home Again

Home at last from the Great Adventure. Quite wonderful adventure, really -- FenCon was excellent, spending a week with my mom and NOT sightseeing was restful, ConChord was great, and the travel itself was awesome (although there were a few mountain roads that kinda freaked me out).

Da Big Finale, of course, was OVFF, and I think this year's unofficial theme was The Summer Of Love, because we were pretty much all over each other with hugs and affection and support all weekend. The music was pretty great, too, and Alexander James Adams, S.J. Tucker, and Betsy Tinney -- collectively Tricky Pixie -- finished on Sunday with one of the absolute best concerts I've ever attended.

Now I catch up with my sleep, a few TV episodes I have to watch, and getting ready for WindyCon next weekend. I think I'll try to finally get to Gravity either Tuesday or Thursday.

And how's by you?

The exhaustion from the con never hits me till Monday. Which is not ideal, given that whole "went to work" thing.

But it was a great con, wasn't it?

Tricky Pixie is the awesome! I've been following Sooj since she was playing the Memphis Gay and Lesbian center.

I'm in Kansas City until Nov 11, taking care of Mom. And I may have to go back right after the 13th. (Husband sees the orthopedist that day) Chemo all week, blood transfusion today, physical therapy tomorrow, neurologist Wed.

It's busy, but the hospital has wifi.

Best wishes for your ongoing treatment.

It's my mother's. Thank you. I'm her chauffeur, in-home caregiver and "house tyrant" as she calls me. Today it's chemo and a trip to the neurosurgeon to get the stitches out from brain surgery. We're having a difficult day, a little slow, a little slurred and not following conversations well. A high pain day for both of us isn't helping.

But we'll make it through.

Do you know when the next Trixy Pixie album will be out?

I wish I did.

Great to see you in Sandy Ago, Tom! You were enjoyed.

Think I picked up a wee bit of con crud - had a raw throat for a day, and I'm only now easing up on the 1880s-ward cough.

The link to my Sherlock Holmes pirate pastiche is here: A Study In Crimson.

Glad you're back and you had a great time. I'm doing OK and work is fine. I took last Friday off because it's my last chance to do so for the next few months with the holidays and the like.

I'm sorry I'll miss you at Windy. But I asked some questions about Chambanacon and got some wonderful responses. I'm looking forward to going there.

The new cat is doing fine, but my mother thinks I'm protecting her too much and she has to learn how to get along with the others. I won't be around to protect her on the trips I'll be taking over the next two months so best she gets used to it now.

Good to see you @ OVFF. Home as of 35 minutes ago, car is unloaded. Time to fall over and colapse. (Unfortunately, I have work in the morning.)

Waking up from after-con sleep. Feels like it's first thing in the morning. OVFF has a special tendency to turn everything topsy-turvy, upside down and backwards - as far as time, and my whole sense of just about everything. Now, to get back on my zero-carb diet and do laundry. Nothing on the travel agenda until GAFilk, so this is 2 months to get myself in shape, physically, financially, and any other way I can thing of.

It was good to see you at OVFF. Always is good to see you anywhere. Hope the plans for the house concert tour work out - let me know when you'll be coming through Denver as early as possible so I can get something arranged.

Glad to hear everything went well my friend :)

As for me? Well that's kind of interesting actually. I'm actually in the process of writing something. Since we're all family here, despite our many differences at times, I think I'll drop the news now.

I'm working on writing a campaign setting using the Pathfinder rules system. Granted I'll have to get permission to do anything once I get ready to publish anything, and I do plan to; but I'm going for it.

I'm not the best when it comes to mechanics on certain things so I'm struggling a little bit on certain areas but I'm doing the best I can and I think I'm coming up with some interesting things. (It is going to be a high fantasy world btw, no Gunslingers)

So yeah... :) (btw would it be terribly gouche of me to ask if anyone else here would be willing to take a look at things once in a while and give me some feedback on things? I really need the outside opinion so I don't make something broken, or word something the wrong way)

I am sorry that I once again missed FenCon. One of these days I will be able to go, and drag a friend or two to see you in action.

j_e_richards: OVFF

If someone could have bottled the energy from this last weekend at OVFF the energy crisis would be solved for at least 6 months.

I'm back to the regular routine of laundry, grocery shopping, and providing laps for needy cats.

It was soooo very good to see you..

I know I'm late responding. But it was my first OVFF and I had a great time.
Hope to go again.

So glad you had a good time. What a wonderful way to start your OVFF life. Did you get to stay around from the jam session on Sunday?

Hope to see you next year. Come up and introduce yourself at the tea party...I'm usually the one handing out hats.
