Hey, Kids! New Album

Release The Unreleased is a bunch of things I've written and recorded over the past few years, including a few commissioned songs, a couple of FuMP releases, a couple of traditional Irish drinking songs... it's an eclectic mix.

I'll have the lyrics, graphics for the CD label and the inserts and such, up as quickly as I can -- I hope tonight, certainly something by Friday -- but you can go listen to, and download, the whole album for free right now. (It's another pay-what-you-want deal.) (Subscribers -- don't pay. It's already in your folder, along with something else I think you'll like.) I hope you enjoy it!

I've forgotten my subscriber password. How do I reset it?

Huh. Now it's not requiring a password. Downloaded and listening.

Dear Tom,

You rock! I'm looking forward to finding you at Fencon tomorrow. Warning: hugs may ensue.

Hey, I've noticed that you have a lot of stuff on iTunes. Have you had issues with legal rights to use the music for your filks? People keep asking me to put "Hey There Cthulhu" up on iTunes, and I've hesitated because of a perceived greater risk of legal action. But am I just being paranoid?

So far, not a thing. I also must point out that I don't actually have an iTunes account -- the stuff that's up there (and on Amazon and a few other places like that) is there because I have those albums on CD Baby, and let them do the digital distribution. In one or two cases, I've paid the straight-up mechanical licensing fee; otherwise, nobody's said a thing.

Okay, thanks. I appreciate the info. :) And I'm super-excited to meet you in two weeks! :D

Loved it! So sorry I'm going to miss you and Windycon. I checked out its filk track and there's a lot of people who I would want to meet. I don't know WHY my brother picked the weekend he did for his wedding reception.

Would it be wrong of me to sacrifice some Barilla pasta to the FSM for a sudden blizzard on the Appalachian Mountains so I'll have to skip the reception and to go Windy?

Nope, not at all. If you have to drive out that way, PLEASE be careful. Those aren't very good roads to begin with (although I-80 straight through New York is actually pretty good). Especially the ultimate in El Sucko roadways, the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Eeugh.

My father is driving but I'll probably switch with him at some points. My parents are going out to that area later this month so I guess it will be a trial run. Still, even though he's my brother, I wish he picked a different date. It's not just because of Windycon, but because of the weather. I don't want to be driving across a mountain range after October.

I checked alamac.com to predict the weather in Pittsburgh when we'll be traveling (I figure it was a close enough location for the mountains) and it predicted rain and mild temperatures. So that could mean ice/snow at higher elevations. It's my hope that after crossing the mountains once, Dad is going to think hard about crossing again in bad weather or when it's windy.
