Oh Fuck, As If I Wasn't Already Out Of Copious Free Time™
For the past twenty-five minutes, I have owned PopCap's Plants vs. Zombies
Or, should I say, it has pwn3d me.
It's not officially released until tomorrow, but if you sign up for the mailing list on the link above, you just might get the pre-release e-mail, with 10% off.
Talk about anything, as long as it's plants or zombies.

I heard the game was supposed to pit him against Rob Zombie -- well, lots of each sort of Rob, actually -- until licensing issues caused them to settle on the current version.
That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it.

Oddly enough..I just had a final over plant propagation...I could bore everyone with the process of germination...or apomixis seeds..

j_e_richards: propogation etc
When I was taking classes for the Master Gardener Program, we had to take seeds home and start them. I kept them nice and warm and when they started to sprout, put them on the kitchen counter under the lights. A few days later, I found half of them all bent and "ratty" looking..I was trying to diagnose the problem when one of the cats came up and put his big head into the container and started to snack..on snapdragons...This probably wouldn't have helped you on the test, but it's a good story to tell when I go out on lectures.

Ok...that is now my favorite "abiotic" cause of plant failure ever...
One thing is guaranteed in my degree...you will hear the oddest stories about people and their plants..

My friend Gary is running a HERO campaign where we're all playing characters based on our real-life selves, and we've been dropped into a Wal*Mart on 12/12/2012 - lightning has been striking and destroying the world as we know it, and we've had to fight off zombies. We spent all of last game shooting and looting. Finally we worked up the nerve to poke at the clouds of blackness inside the store, and they're a portal to someplace else. That's why we've been looting - throwing as much stuff from inside the Wal*Mart through the portal before we jump through ourselves. The zombies won't follow us because it's daylight on the other side.

ladycheron: Plants, zombies, popcap and braiiiiinzzzz
If I'd had any working brains, I would have stayed away from the Popcap site. I have been sucked in, bought the game, and played it until WAAAAYYY too late last night. How late? I slept thru the alarm clock, and had 15 mins to shower, dress, eat, make lunch and catch the bus to work. I had to skip a couple of those steps to do so.
