One Take. One.
Check out the video from the newest album by OK Go. Thanks to Anne for the heads-up.

That may have been one take, but I bet it wasn't the first one... :)

OK Go not only rock, they are some very friendly people. Saw 'em at the Newport, opening for They Might Be Giants--they hung out after the show, selling their CDs (at the time, only the first two) and chatting with whoever felt like chatting back. For my money, they're also one of the best opening acts I've seen ahead of TMBG. The only other opener I genuinely liked was 'Petit Ubu'--the members of Pere Ubu not going on-stage with TMBG (this was before the Band of Dans).

If OK Go are starting to get wider notice, that's a Very Good Thing.

I liked Soul Coughing when they opened for TMBG as well as OK GO. Everyone else was very "eh" as far as I was concerned.

But you are right. OK GO are very nice, have their first two albums signed and got to chat with them after the show as well!

Although I've learned to like them since (the videos they did for Cartoon Network rocked), I was really disappointed with Soul Coughing when they opened for They. Also disappointing: Cub. And yeah, I got my copies of the OK Go discs signed, too. :)

I'm trying to remember if that was the 'Four Horsemen' show or not... we had a monstrous storm come into the area the night of a TMBG show late in '01. Flans said (after the first song) that They'd been watching it on the Weather Channel and that they'd taken the regular meteorological symbols off the map and replaced them with the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse... about three songs later, there was a total power outage. The Johns gave us an acoustic 'Istanbul' and 'New York City' (barely a month after 9/11, that was very moving, especially when Flans intro'd it with a remark that when you thought about what had just happened in his home town, a power outage was a pretty damn minor thing...), then adjourned the show until midnight, by which time either power would be restored or a generator truck would be on site. During the down time, Flans was out front signing autographs and chatting with fans. If not the best show ever, it was certainly one of the weirdest... :)

Oh, I'm quite sure it took multiple takes, and a week or two of practice. But it's still cool.

Hah, awesome. Very clever choreography, and the music's not bad either.

Imagine opening for They Might Be Giants? But these guys seem to have what it takes.

I, too, saw OK Go on their tour with TMBG at the Vogue in Indy. They actually had the cojones to cover a Giants song!

And any band that includes a scene from "Les Miserables" in their set is all right by me (really, they did! Valjean vs. Javert, and it was good)
