Bay Bridge Lights

People forget there's another bridge in the San Francisco Bay area. For the past two years, artist Leo Villereal has been creating an art project that will run for the next two years:

And, yes, he's technically turned the Bay Bridge into a simulated lava lamp.

But a two mile long lava lamp.

This is way better than a giant lava lamp. Lava lamps are great but they only do one thing: blobs.

Leo's work has never failed to amaze me on-playa; I was not expecting the experience here to be any different. I'm looking forward to the chance to drive up to SF and see it in person.

We actually have eight. Dumbarton, San Mateo, Bay, Golden Gate, Richmond-San Rafael, Carquinez, Benecia, and Antioch.

Bay Lights is gorgeous. They are still trying to raise money, so please give a little to support utterly awesome public art.

A lava lamp, engineered by an artist named Leo? It doesn't get much Bujoldier than that!

Thanks, Tom! You find [and write!] the coolest things.
