Everybody okay from this, or hunkered down where you have to be? Sound off, so we know you're all right. This entry was originally posted at http://filkertom.dreamwidth.org/1604513.html. You may comment there or here, although LJ tends to have a livelier conversation at this time.

Pretty snow, which we don't have to go out in. Plenty of firewood, cat food, people food, etc.

So far accumulating a bit less than predicted in the immediate DC area. However, not complaining about the snow day. 8-)

Pretty much what Gary said. The ground is very soggy, but there was no accumulation in my part of Alexandria.

Like gorgeousgary and jannyblue, here near Dulles Airport we didn't get quite as much accumulation as expected. I think, however, it's because so much of it melted on contact, not because we got less total precip. Visibility was never better than "ick" before 5 PM, and was often down to less than 20 feet. So it's as well that OPM declared a snow day. As the office I'm currently at follows OPM, like my other team members I worked from home. Still working, actually. Damn pesky bug. Shoveling the driveway clear was nasty because there was so much liquid water in the slush, but I'll be able to get out tomorrow to work at the office, at least in the afternoon.

I got to leave a few minutes early from work. It was enough to make it to an earlier train that gets me home 15 minutes earlier than normal (including the time it took to clear off the car). Roads were fine and by morning things were plowed out. That's when the annoyances started. My car is almost out of gas. My usual train was canceled and the one after that was late. On the train my lunch container leaked due to an open lid staining my backpack and my pants. And on top of that since I was late I didn't get the pre-company-meeting goodies that others got and which I skipped breakfast for.

Here by the Jersey Shore, it's just raining, and it's expected to stay mostly rain until late tonight; they're predicting a "slushy accumulation" of 2 to 5 inches by morning, and then maybe more rain and/or mixed precip during the day. It's very windy, though, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if we lost power at some point. There's a warning of "minor to moderate coastal flooding", which doesn't seem to be of much consequence - the robo-call from the town Office of Emergency Management didn't even mention evacuating. My biggest worry is the tree at the front of the house that was weakened by Superstorm Sandy; if the wind blows it the rest of the way over, it'll take out the power lines for the entire neighborhood, and the roots might possibly cause further damage to my front steps. My husband's out now getting some groceries and other stuff we'll need in the next couple of days. If the power stays on, I might do some baking.

Lots of warnings but no snow so far in the western suburbs of Philly. We've just had some rain and wind. We're supposed to get rain mixed with snow tonight, but nothing accumulating. That's a lot better than the 4 to 8 inches of snow that they were predicting as late as this morning.

delazan: From Wisconsin With Love

The last big one hit us Monday night going into Tuesday. We didn't shovel until this morning in honor of Ms. Diller ("Trying to clean the house while you have kids is like trying to shovel while it's still snowing."). Some accidents because some idiots forget how to drive from one blizzard to the next. Other than that, it's just another winter in Wisconsin. Thanks for asking, -Lori

Just outside of Annapolis, we were told to expect 8 inches of snow & all we've gotten is wind and some rain. My friends in B'more haven't even gotten most of the rain. Pretty happy about it, too 'cause the damn power goes out any time we get more than 6 inches of snow.

Absolutely gorgeous here in Cincinnati, though not so fun to clear off the car :). Was warming up and melting throughout the day so not sure how long it will remain here on the ground either....
