Sat, May. 5th, 2012, 09:02 pm Avengers Assemble!

Spoiler Thread. ETA: Just saw the Sunday 12:15 IMAX 3D show with Anne, Leslie, and Mark. This is the movie that will get me to buy a Blu-Ray player. Puny god. Well, I suppose I can comment, since this is a spoiler thread--indeed. And I *liked* Coulson, just from the Thor trailer about him.

I know. He was so under-appreciated. At first he was just an annoying paper pushing agent but he had depth. He was a skilled fighter and would have been a nice addition to the Avengers. Instead he was an Uncle Ben or Bruce Wayne's parents.

PSST: Whedon and the actor both say Coulson is not dead. He is signed up for iron man three.

Do you have a link to that by any chance? I need to settle a bet with someone, and my Google Fu is weak.

Hmmm. Got Clark Gregg's IMDB page, which does not have him in the cast of Iron Man 3. It does, however, list him as a rumor for the announced Nick Fury film. And he's also playing Coulson in the animated Ultimate Spider-Man series (which also has J. K. Simmons reprising J. Jonah Jameson -- vocally, at least). Edited at 2012-05-07 07:45 am (UTC)

Yeah, that was all I found as well. Was hoping to find something more substantial, as I have no patience. ;-)

They did go out of their way to have someone drop a reference to Life Model Duplicates earlier in the film...

So not only did Nick lied to us and the Avengers, he got Coulson's mint vintage Captain America trading cards all bloody? Is it possible Iron Man 3 takes place before the Avengers?

First law of Comic Book death: If you haven't seen the body, verified it for genetic match, made sure that it isn't a clone, and checked its trans-dimensional resonance to make sure it isn't a dimensional counterpart that died, and cremated the body, then the person in question might not be dead. Actually, even after all that, the person in question might not be dead, or might not stay dead. But for a character like Coulson, that generally covers it. Edited at 2012-05-07 07:23 am (UTC)
