Mon, Apr. 30th, 2012, 08:24 pm Seriously, The Right Wing Would Make More Money Writing YA Fic

I mean, how can you not marvel at the audacious imagination to come up with this: Medical examiners in Los Angeles are investigating the possible poisoning death of one of their own officials who may have worked on the case of Andrew Breitbart, the conservative firebrand who died March 1, the same day Sheriff Joe Arpaio announced probable cause for forgery in President Obama’s birth certificate. I am in awe. This entry was originally posted at http://filkertom.dreamwidth.org/1512698.html. You may comment there or here, although LJ tends to have a livelier conversation at this time.

Although the two are not mutually exclusive, so it could be both.

Sadly the GOP has been for years slowly but steadily slipping down the path of madness. I believe HP Lovecraft explained Republicanism the best: "As for the Republicans, how can one regard seriously a frightened, greedy, nostalgic huddle of tradesmen and lucky idlers who shut their eyes to history and science, steel their emotions against decent human sympathy, cling to sordid and provincial ideals exalting sheer acquisitiveness and condoning artificial hardship for the non-materially-shrewd, dwell smugly and sentimentally in a distorted dream-cosmos of outmoded phrases and principles... Intellectually, the Republican idea deserves the tolerance and respect one gives to the dead." 1936 letter to C.L. Moore. I'd say that most cases anyone in the Republican Party past the city or state level deserves total and utter contempt of their positions of authority. From my own state's example of Joe Walsh (a TEA Party Freshmeat who's failure to pay child support over $117k to his insulting a respected female disabled American veteran who still serves in the US Army Reserves) to Florida's Allen West (a military war criminal who's exploited the race card and his political connections to avoid prosecution by the Army CID and JAG corpse that should have held him accountable for the murder squads in Afghanistan where he served as XO and also knew that "die Spiegel" had documentation of the war crimes that his troops committed). Those are the examples of why the GOP is askew and growing worse and worse each election cycle. Not to mention the other list of Wondertards who's backstabbing and infighting showed how divided the GOP really is and should implode. There's been a lot of talk about the GOP being split and return of the Whig Party as well as the Constitution Party, both are "Conservative in name. But all of them still have ties to people like the Kochs, the DeVoss and the Prince Klans which are huge power elites that want to undermine American Democracy and turn us into a Christian Nationalists group that's basically a bunch of neo-Fascists. It's a tragedy that the greatest Republicans of our times who fought against Fascism are now being used to help return Fascism into power. That the very people who're claiming that Socialism equals Nazism (National Socialism) are truly clueless about history and what Fascism is including the 14 signs of Fascism and Proto-Fascism. That those very people like Allen West and Joe Walsh are the worst hypocrites and members of a Fascist ideology and yet they claim to be fighting against it. They've been blinded by their own idealism that has nothing to do with reality.

I'm stealing that Lovecraft quote and posting it on Facebook. Thanks.

When H.P. Lovecraft thinks you're obsessed with a lost and imagined past, it is truly time to examine your life.

It's a good thing everyone else in my department is out of the office today. Explaining the window-rattling laugh I just let loose would have been interesting... 8-)

As late as 2008, the GOP had a chance to keep some degree of rationality and marginalize the racist nutjobs and loser gun nuts. Then McCain picked Sarah Palin and the whole party went to hell. Literally. Anyone who says the two parties are anything alike is, quite simply, wrong. At least members of the Democratic Party can pronounce all the syllables in the name of the other...

Someone needs to start up an International Society for the Invention and Promulgation of Wacky Conspiracy Theories. At this very moment, the doppelganger ghost of Robert Anton Wilson is in my living room, eating a bowl of Rice Krinkles I've had preserved for freshness radioactively since 1966.

And they accused us liberals of being tinfoil-hat conspiracy theorists just because we suspected there was something hinky about a bunch of ballots in Florida.

And wouldn't it make more sense, if one was going to posit subtle Democratic ninja hit squads, to take out Sheriff Joe Arpaio? Confirmation bias, again.

Unfortunately, Ormstein will probably be dismissed by the people who should listen to him.
