Fri, Apr. 27th, 2012, 05:08 pm Music Music Music, and PenguiCon

I'm trying to finish up some music today, and I don't think I'll get to PenguiCon until tomorrow. Which saddens me, because I could use the hugs. But I'll get them tomorrow, and hang out with Luke and Gundo and Les and maybe Anne and whoever else shows up 'cause it's local and fun and hey. I believe my set is at 6:00 p.m. Saturday. The music is fourfold. I've got a commission job I want to finish in the next week; that's being back-burnered until Monday. I have remixed "Quit Freaking Out Over Boobs" to make the vocals more prominent (and add a harmony) for the final cut on the next FuMP album. I have to clean up the vocals for "Prometheus", same dealie. And I have to expand the Ogre theme I did for Steve Jackson's Ogre Kickstarter into about two minutes' worth. (And Steve kindly mentioned me in an interview with GeekDad at Wired.) It would also be really really great if I could spiff up Tom Smith Online tonight -- I need to add a few concerts that subscribers have had for awhile now, and fix a little code, and update the main page. I also have to update the Press Kit, but that can wait until Wednesday or so. And then I get some dang sleep. How's your weekend starting out...? I'll probably go see the Pirates movie with some friends (the one with Darwin but not mentioned in the title {probably to avoid contraversy}) tomorrow night. Kitty goes in for a blood test in the morning. Another DucKon meeting on Sunday. So it's going to be busy busy busy for me. I do hope my cat gained weight. This morning before I left I opened up a new can of cat food and he was hoovering it down. I only hope he didn't eat it so fast it made him sick. (He would discover he loves the $1 a can cat food.) Tonight, it's pizza, hard cider, and mindless entertainment.

Tiring... Too many long hours at work... I will be here for another hour or so before heading home.
Then its a relaxing weekend.
As for Penguicon, your schedule had you on a couple of panels tonight. (Not that I was going to be there.)

Not much.... I did do a smart move around rush hour for Wed morning work.... I drove out the night before and ended up getting a cheap room nearby.
Also on my weekend... I am going to a house concert for Heather Dale (who happens to be in the NYC area this weekend doing a house concert.)

I just finished mixing Atheist's Anthem tonight. Only to decide that I want to have another try at the vocals (I don't usually drift *sharp*). So that's slated for Wednesday of next week if possible. Started mixing True Dragon Treasure; hoping to finish that this weekend and Boats Have Bones next week before Wednesday in hopes that I can catch anything else I need to re-record before the library starts tearing down the padded room I've been using (they're putting in a classroom when spring semester is over but have promised me access to another recording room "deeper in the building" by fall semester.) Actual *speakers* are supposedly coming on Tuesday so I can listen to my mixes on speakers. I keep alternating between stressing out over spending money and getting excited over being nearly done with the album.

Given the growing demand for giving Car Wars the deluxe treatment after SJG wraps up Ogre, you should probably start thinking about Car Wars music now to be ready.

Heading out to St. Louis tomorrow...record album shopping topped off with a Florence and the Machine concert on Sunday night. She's going to rock the place! The drive home's gonna suck, but it'll be worth it!

So far it's pretty quiet... I've got laundry to put away and I'm going to Ian's concert tomorrow, but I think this weekend will be pretty low-key for me. ...ask me about next weekend if you want something a bit more exciting... ;-)

Crys said the panel you were to be on together was awesome. She misses you and can't wait to see you. My weekend? Helped a friend prep their house for sale...the house that if I had the money, would be mine in an instant (you know, if Student Loans disappeared and such). Will do some of that tomorrow, and likely hit a bardic circle tomorrow as well. Some decent folks will be there. Hope Penguicon goes GREAT!

Let's see... worked today, fairly productive; then fish share, home, grocery store, ferry Talis to an overnight bonfire party, finish painting hive pieces, dinner, and I'm still up. Tomorrow, mow around where hives are located, bees arrive, put them into two hives, more work, followed by Heather Dale house concert in Watertown (near Boston). Sunday, more work, but for a different project. Lots of driving, but fortunately, I get paid from the time I leave my house til I get home, plus mileage. No penguicon for me... have a blast. *hugs you* :-) It never stops.

Well, Saturday and Sunday I work, so my weekend doesn't start until Monday, and we are rushing around getting the guest room for my mom who is driving up startng Monday and arriving Tuesday. So, busy. ome to think of it, if the current trend at work continues, Saturday and Sunday will be less busy than my weekend will be...

Last night, I slept in my own bed for the first time in nine days. (Last weekend I was at FKO, and Sunday through yesterday I was in Dallas on business.) Today will be spent catching up on fun stuff, like shows on the DVR this week's comics. Tonight, for Detroit Restaurant Week, Sharon, my mother and I are going to Roast, a restaurant owned by Iron Chef Mike Symon. I'll come to Penguicon very briefly tomorrow (Sunday), as there's a panel at noon about ConFusion, to be followed by a concom meeting.

First of all, we're getting ready for Lily's adoption, which will be on May 10th. We have a visit from the guardian ad litem on Monday night and one more from her (former) Catholic Charities case worker. Not sure about the former, but the latter is merely a formality. I think Kathi's baking her a cake. I took time off from working on the e-book to take my granddaughter Ria and Lily to see The Rock in The Mysterious Island at the Saturday free movie. The marathon is in town today, but it is already over and traffic is heading back to normal. Decided on a title for the book last night--it'll be called The Manywhere Portals and should be premiering at Worldcon. At present, there's no plan for a print edition, but the ebook will sell for Kindle on Amazon for $1.99 and other outlets like Nook at a bit higher. (That's due to a royalty deal with Amazon.) For cat lovers out there (and I know you are there, this place has more purring in the background than most anywhere, I'll send you a free preview chapter (with cute kittens in it) called Strays if you contact me either on this topic or at my email address: trumpinski.books(at)gmail.com. You'll not be put on a mailing list or anything, just anxious to let folks get a look at the book while it's in production. I also have a hard SF short in first-read. It was written for my friend, Grady Elliot, as a "first-adventure" possibility for his Terracide game system, which is out for Hero system and will soon be available for Savage Worlds. It's nice to have the block gone, but I have to be real careful not to get distracted, which is why I've been laying the last couple of months. Best, Tom T.
