OMG ponies! Yes, that's what I thought he's been thinking [as expressed up until now with his flinching body language and a look of discomfort] when issues about policies towards the poor &/or minorities, especially -black- minorities have been the subject of discussion

I've been trying to come up with some explanation, some alternative phrase he might've been starting to say, then thought better of (and that he somehow thought would sound WORSE than "government nig..." on the six o'clock news). This is partly out of a determination to, as Kipling said, "concede some form of trial, even to his fiercest foe", but also largely to anticipate how the Right will spin this so they can trot out the "those knee-jerk liberals and their racism obsession" meme again.

But the best explanation for the observed facts I can find is just that Ricky suddenly realized he WASN'T at the weekly Klonvocation but was instead in a place with CAMERAS rolling.

Actually, I thought the obscure reference was the Sean Connery line being a reference to a storyline in the webcomic General Protection Fault.

Update: ah, I see now, the GPF storyline is a reference to the Avengers episode. I completely missed that when I read GPF. Time for me to rewatch the Mrs Peel years of the Avengers.
