Giveaway of the Day: EZGenerator 4

If you're in the market for a web site design and content management suite, one of the biggies is FREE, today only. Image-Line's EZGenerator can be had for the download and registration at Giveaway of the Day. (Yes, Image-Line is the same company that has FL Studio, the former Fruity Loops.)

(Note that when I say "registration", I mean you have to create an account at Image-Line and download a small registry file, which you activate by double-clicking it. A number of the ungrateful children in comments at GAOTD seem to think this is a problem, and I suppose in their own way they are Sticking It To The Man or something. GAOTD comments are nearly as bad as Yahoo comments, honestly -- people complaining about free commercial software is never pretty, especially when it's too complex for them. One guy honestly recommends that, rather than download this web site software, people should learn to code HTML with a text editor. Which is a useful thing, but I can only assume he also likes assembling toothpick Taj Mahals. But I'm not cranky.)

Any other cool freebies we should know about?

I'll give it a try. I usually MS Visual Studio but it doesn't handle php very well.

First attempt to download stopped 2 MB short. Hope the second attempt completes before the offer ends...

Second attempt was 8 MB away from done when a brief power outage killed the download. Grr. Attempt #3...

Third attempt died without explanation at 99 MB.

FINALLY seem to have it on the fourth try. Now to hurry and get it installed before bed.

I only hope this will actually prove useful to me.

Well, I guess I'm one of those toothpick types of coders - but that might have a lot to do with why I haven't updated or really even gotten my site back up since I moved it ;).

Oh, I'm fine with that kind of coding -- sometimes knowing some HTML has been the only thing that's got my site back online after some stupid mistake I made -- but the comments are, in theory, supposed to be on the specific program, not the concept of it. Another "useful" comment said there were too many files in the archive, and therefore it was obviously a beta version. I swear, some people is just dumb.

I get your point. Kinda reminds me of when I've been trying to research tablets and ereaders. It's ridiculous how many comment threads become pro and con Apple (or to a lesser extent Amazon or Google) as a whole ignoring whether the ipad or alternatives is the correct device for person or need. And yeah the dumb is overflowing the comment banks sometimes.
