Fri, Jan. 13th, 2012, 12:56 pm OMG EFFING WANT WANT WANT NOW NOW NOW

Right up there with Watchmen and The Dark Knight Returns and Mage. Howard Chaykin's The Shadow: Blood and Judgement is being collected for the first time in twenty years. What other long-out-of-print miniseries would you like reprinted? I'm still hoping for Matt Wagner's Demon (there's an old collection out there, but I think it deserves more shelf time), as well as an omnibus of the Stanley And His Monster and Angel And The Ape done by Phil Foglio. And there really should be a collection of The Oz-Wonderland War featuring Captain Carrot and the Amazing Zoo Crew. This entry was originally posted at http://filkertom.dreamwidth.org/1478025.html. You may comment there or here, although LJ tends to have a livelier conversation at this time.

Buck Godot:The Gallumaufry for me. And the original maxi of Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld. And the ones you said, (and there's no reason not to add Phil's Plastic Man mini to that omnibus.)

Amethyst! Of course. God, that was a lovely book. Heck, maybe Phil & Kaja can be talked into printing The Gallimaufry. There was a version put out by Diamond in 2008, apparently....

I believe they said at Worldcon that they're working on it; they put out the other Godot books and the entire thing is online, after all.

The issue with Gallimaufrey is a double-whammy of some time needed for file clean-up (we want to do it, but there's other things that *need* to be done, as opposed to something that will be good to do) and there's the fact that Buck just never sells well enough to cover the printing costs. It will still get done one of these days, maybe even this year (it's on the "we can hope" schedule) but no promises. There's some talk of doing it as a Kickstarter, both because of those printing costs and to help get the word out once the files are in shape.

Yay! Thanks, Alice!

I would be frickin' delighted to sign on as a backer for the Gallimaufry collection in Kickstarter. I.e., please let me give you money.

As much as I'd like to see those Foglio omnibuses happen, I always had the feeling that DC would like to pretend they never happened and bury all the evidence that they did.

I want a hardcover Atari Force collection !!! Why are you looking at me like that?

Not a thang, m'friend. I was working in the Phantasy Emporium comic store in Cincinnati back when that came out (holy FSM, what a great time for comics -- Alan Moore had just started writing Swamp Thing, we were hip deep in Cerebus and Elfquest and Mage and Camelot 3000 and First Comics and and and). Tremendously fun book, lovely Garcia-Lopez art, what's not to love?

I only read the 2nd series (still have them in a box somewhere) It was pretty silly, but yeah, fun. Most of my friends mocked me for buying it. I need to sort out my comics, and re-bag a bunch. They are not in the best of shape, but mostly still readable. I do desperately want Mage 3 though. Here is an idea, the original Elfquest ... in book form ... in black and white!

Nice thought. The original comics got tweaked all to heck when they were colored and reprinted; it'd be nice to have a Non-Episode-4 version, if you know what I mean and I think you do.

I have them both ... never liked anything by them after that initial run, but the original is still one of my all time favorites.

I absolutely second that. Unfortunately, the rights issue is likely to prevent it from ever happening. :-( The best one can do, I think, is gather up a run and have it bound yourself.

I was going to say "F;ex Mentallo: Man of Muscle Mystery", but when I googled it to make sure I had the title right, it turned out it's actually being released soon.

And of course that should be "FLEX Mentallo".

The Atlantis Chronicles. Yeah, I know I could probably find the whole thing cheap at eBay or even at one of NYC's bigger comic shops. But what I've read of it is great, and I think it might be PAD's DC highwater mark.

I'd like to see reissues of 'V for Vendetta', 'Watchmen', 'Demon' & the 'Buck Godot' books. I -have- them all, but they are showing the wear of years of reading/re-reading [and letting others read them]. I'd also like to see book collections of 'The Adventures of Luther Arkwright' and 'Grimjack'

The V, Watchmen, and Buck Godot books (except for The Gallimaufray, above) are all available. It's probably more polite to get the Godot books from Phil & Kaja. :)

Heck yeah - I love giving them money [so that Phil & Kaja will keep making me happy]. I've got the 'GG' books in paper and pdf now. [And would get Buck in pdf too, if he were available.] As for 'V' & 'Watchmen' - are there editions more recent than the original releases? I've looked around [tho not online] and the bookshops I check never have them. [Tho the local B&N has managed to have a lot of other good stuff.]

I wouldn't mind the Heinlein comics that appeared in "Boys' Life" magazine.
