Don't Tweet Your Weiner

I'll try to get to recording this in the next 24. No, I didn't parody the whole song -- I don't think it was necessary.

Don't Tweet Your Weiner
Words: © Tom Smith
Music: "Don't Fear The Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult

All our politicians
Are so freakin’ dumb
Rule One: Don't Tweet your Weiner
Nor do Facebook, Linkedin or Skype
(We can be so juvenile)

Come on baby
(Don't Tweet your Weiner)
Baby take my spam
(Don't Tweet your Weiner)
Twelve megapixels
(Don't Tweet your Weiner)
Baby I’m your man

La, la la, la la
La, la la, la la

His career is done
He’s here but soon he’ll be gone
Andrew and Anthony
Making headlines with a bunch of lies
(Andrew and Anthony)

(Like Andrew and Anthony)
(Redefine truth and privacy)
Another scandal coming every day
(we can be so asinine)

Come on baby
(Don't Tweet your Weiner)
Baby wash your hands
(Don't Tweet your Weiner)
Unzip my fly
(Don't Tweet your Weiner)
Baby that’s my glans

La, la la, la la
La, la la, la la

Will you include samples from the various press conferences?

Mon, Jun. 6th, 2011 10:12 pm (UTC)

Oh hell yeah.

Mon, Jun. 6th, 2011 10:22 pm (UTC)

Oh, Jesus. ROTFLMAO.

Mon, Jun. 6th, 2011 10:28 pm (UTC)

Tom, I knew which tune you would use to filk this just by reading the title. I'm not sure whether this fact should make me inordinately proud — or a little bit scared. :-)

Trying to get the jump on Steve Goodie?

And kudos for using something other than the obvious Oscar Meyer jingle.

Mon, Jun. 6th, 2011 10:32 pm (UTC)

don't fear the voter/ballot...

*sigh* One begins to believe that politics rots the brain, pretty much universally.

Tue, Jun. 7th, 2011 04:05 am (UTC)

Not so much that it rots the brain as that it selects for a certain sort of people by being such a horrid business that everyone else either avoids it, or can't be fully effective at it.

Tue, Jun. 7th, 2011 04:34 am (UTC)

Huh. You've got a point there...

Mon, Jun. 6th, 2011 10:38 pm (UTC)

For the record, he's my congressman. I really don't care about this. It was stupid, and probably will stop him from being mayor, but it really shouldn't disqualify him from serving in congress. (Not that I like him much. He strikes me as just another politician in a city where many of his cohorts are much better.)

But yes, he deserves to be ridicules in song. And really, with a name like that, he should have thought a lot more.

Tue, Jun. 7th, 2011 05:56 am (UTC)

Lying to the public about it is what should DQ him. The issue with Clinton (people forget this) that lead to impeachment (which I think was overboard) wasn't the BJ, it was LYING about it under oath.

Ditto for this... Weiner could've just ignored it, but he came out & made a big production and lied thru his teeth.
So at this point he's basically violated the public's trust & shown that they can't trust his word. That's a DQ.

Tue, Jun. 7th, 2011 01:42 pm (UTC)

Ditto and agreed. It's the lying.

Tue, Jun. 7th, 2011 06:06 pm (UTC)

There's a major difference between lying under oath and lying to a question that nobody has any right to even ask.

I don't care what Weiner does online, so long as he's not being creepy about it. All those women who have come forward thus far confirm his claim that it was consensual. If his wife is OK with it, fine.

I am pissed at him, though, because New York state loses two Congressional seats in 2012, and he's just hung the great big bullseye on his chest to be redistricted out of his seat. The GOP will pick up seven or eight seats on Census-driven redistricting overall nationwide, which means effective liberal leaders like Weiner will be that much more necessary.

The California map turns out to favor a potential D+4, and the Texas population growth favors two minority districts, so it may not be that bad for the Ds.

Sun, Jun. 12th, 2011 05:59 am (UTC)

The population growth might favor it, but the Republicans hold total power here.

Texas is about to go from 32 representatives to 36. Of the four brand-new districts, three of them lean strongly Republican. The old 32 are also being redrawn so long-time Democrat Doggett has been dropped into a hideously gerrymandered pro-Republican district. The net result will be Republicans +4, barring a truly tremendous anti-Perry landslide in 2012.

ldrake: Send it in to Daily Show...

Maybe they'll use it :)

Mon, Jun. 6th, 2011 10:42 pm (UTC)

Heh. Now that's fun. I look forward to hearing it.

Mon, Jun. 6th, 2011 10:43 pm (UTC)

Does he pronounce his name WEE-nrr, or WHY-nr?

Mon, Jun. 6th, 2011 10:48 pm (UTC)

I'm pretty sure it's WEE-nrr, although honestly neither is much better than the other....

Mon, Jun. 6th, 2011 11:01 pm (UTC)

It's "wee-nrr"

I've heard the news stories about it.

Mon, Jun. 6th, 2011 11:14 pm (UTC)

It's most assuredly WEE-ner. He's given the Speaker of the House grief about the latter's insistence that it's pronounced BAY-ner.

That's awesome! I can't wait to hear it after you've recorded it :D

Tue, Jun. 7th, 2011 02:32 am (UTC)

I wish we had time to toss off a backing track for you ...

Tue, Jun. 7th, 2011 05:07 pm (UTC)

I see what you did there...

Tue, Jun. 7th, 2011 04:11 am (UTC)

That...that is sick, twisted, evil...and awesome.

Tue, Jun. 7th, 2011 06:38 am (UTC)

That's funny... and the actual news is bizarre.

I think however that this song need a little more fleshing out? The opening verse doesn't seem to scan to any part of the song's tune I recognize. it's like you need more verse....

Tue, Jun. 7th, 2011 07:24 am (UTC)

"Fleshing out"? AHAHAHAH

Sorry. Way too many puns.

Tue, Jun. 7th, 2011 07:30 am (UTC)

*facepalms* Yeah, I knew after I saw what I posted that someone whould just HAVE to point out my unfortunate choice of words....

Tue, Jun. 7th, 2011 11:10 am (UTC)

Thanks Tom. After wall to wall to wall coverage of this nonsense, I needed a laugh.

Tue, Jun. 7th, 2011 12:00 pm (UTC)

Don't Tweet Your Weiner FTW!!! I was singing along as I read the lyrics (well, singing in my head; I don't think the guy who sits across from me at work really wants to hear this ;)

Tue, Jun. 7th, 2011 07:21 pm (UTC)

Can't...breathe! Laughing...too...hard!

Totally awesome dude! Just awesome! :-)

Thu, Jun. 9th, 2011 01:44 am (UTC)
